First member of this branch of the Gagnon family to be born after the dispute between Britain and the United States over the northern border of Maine was settled. However, Alexandre was born a British subject, having been born in the community of St. Basile, New Brunswick, which was only a single town across the now two year old border of Maine. He would later move to Frenchville, Maine and reside in the United States.
