He was married to Emelie MICHAUD (daughter of Michel MICHAUD and Modeste BOURGUOIN) on 16 Nov 1847 in Ste-Luce Church, Frenchville, Maine.(5) They appeared in the 1851 New Brunswick Census of Victoria County, in Madawaska Parish, living along the bank of the St.John River. He is listed as John Gagnon, age 26, farmer, came to New Brunswick in 1830; she is listed as Emily Gagnon, age 23, born in New Brunswick. Jean GAGNON and Emelie MICHAUD had the following children:
